Ms. Dorothea Fumpuni John

Ms. Dorothea Fumpuni John is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Educational Foundations, Management and Lifelong Learning. She completed her first degree (B.A.Ed) and M.A. Ed at the University of Dar es Salaam in 2004 and 2008 respectively. She also holds Diploma in Education from Uyole Lutheran Teachers College with Geography and Kiswahili as teaching subjects. Ms. Fumpuni worked as a secondary school teacher for ten years from 1998-2008.  She was employed as a tutorial assistant in March 2008 and in December the same year she got promoted to the rank of an Assistant Lecturer. She teaches Principles of Education, History of education and Sociology of Education at undergraduate level. Her main research areas of interest are Education and Community Development, Dynamics and Politics in
Education and Comparative education. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD studies at the University of Dar-es Salaam

Ms. Grace Kihwele

 Ms. Kihwele Grace
Ms. Kihwele Grace is a Tutorial Assistant in Educational Foundation, Management and Lifelong Learning department. She completed her first degree in B.Ed. (Arts) (Hons) at the University of Dar es Salaam in 2013.

 

 

 

Mr. Moyo Osiah

 Mr. Moyo Osiah
Mr. Moyo is a Tutorial Assistant in Educational Foundation, Management and Lifelong Learning department. He completed his first degree in B.Ed. (Arts) (Hons) majoring in Linguistics, at the University of Dar es salaam in 2013. Before joining the academy, he taught at secondary schools and colleges.

Ms. Amina Suleiman

 Ms. Seleman Amina
Ms. Seleman Amina is a Tutorial Assistant in Educational Foundation, Management and Lifelong Learning department. She Holds a Bachelor degree from the University of Dar es Salaam. Before joining the academy, she worked as an Education Officer II at Makoko Secondary School in Musoma. Currently, she is pursuing her Master’s degree in Education at the University of Dar es Salaam.

 

 

 

Ms. Rose N. Mgaya

 Ms. Rose N. Mgaya
Ms. Mgaya is an Assistant Lecturer of Educational Philosophy in the Department of Educational Foundations, Management and Lifelong Learning. She holds Masters of Arts in Education, and Bachelor of Education in Arts from the University of Dar es Salaam respectively. She also holds Diploma in Education from Morogoro Teachers Training College with History and Geography as teaching Subjects. Her research interests cuts across Philosophical issues in education, Educational Leadership and Administration, Teacher Education and Ethical issues in Education.

Dr. Perpetua J Urio

Lecturer, Coordinator Undergraduate Studies, and Gender Focal Person, DUCE.

Dr. Perpetua J,Urio is a Lecturer in Educational Foundations and Management. She completed her first degree B.Ed. and M.A. Ed at the University of Dar es Salaam in 2002 and 2006 respectively, and Ph.D at the University of Dar es salaam in 2012. Before joining the academy in September, 2005, Dr. Urio worked as secondary school Educational Officer and in the College of Education as a Tutor, with the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training between 1990 and 2004.

Mr. Oziambo Betwel

Assistant Lecturer

Mr. Oziambo Betwel, Head, Educational Foundations and Management Unit, DUCE. Mr. Oziambo Betwel is an Assistant Lecturer in Educational Foundations and Management. He is the Head of the Educational Foundations and Management Unit. Mr. Betwel holds a Bachelor of Education in Arts (B. Ed (Arts) and Master of Arts in Education (M.A (Ed) degrees of the University of Dar es Salaam which were accomplished in 2007 and 2010 respectively. Prior to his professional career at the university level in March 2008, he worked with the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training as tutor at Korogwe Teachers College between July 2007 and March 2008. Mr. Betwel teaches courses in educational foundations and administration at undergraduate level. His main research areas of interest are in professionalism and ethics in education, and teacher management i.e. he did a research in these areas when he was doing his master’s degree.

Mr. Gasper Nturu Shoo

Assistant Lecturer

Mr. Gasper Nturu Shoo, Member-Department of Educational Foundations and Management. Gasper Nturu Shoo is an Assistant Lecturer in Educational Foundations and Management Unit. Shoo completed his first degree Bed (Arts) and master of Education Management and Administration at the University of Dar es Salaam in 2007 and 2010 respectively. Before joining the academy in March 2008 Shoo had worked as a classroom teacher, headteacher, Ward Education Coordinator (WEC) and District Academic Officer (DAO) between 1996 and 2008. Shoo was Coordinator of the Educational Foundations and Management unit for one term (2011-2012). He teaches courses in education management and administration and also curriculum and teaching at undergraduate level. His main research areas of interest are in Management, Instructional Leadership and work performance.

Ms. Katherine Fulgence

Assistant Lecturer

Ms. Fulgence holds a Bachelor of Education (BEd. Sc.) Honors (2002) and an MBA (2004) majoring in Finance from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She has seven years of experience in teaching, researching and consulting in the areas of entrepreneurship, project management and small business development. Ms. Fulgence has also headed the Education Foundations and Management Unit at DUCE (June, 2008 – March, 2011). As an associate of the University of Dar es Salaam Entrepreneurship Centre (UDEC), she has consulted a number of organizations including private companies, business associations and agencies. Ms. Fulgence has also managed a four year project funded by Nuffic (2005 – 2008) aimed at enhancing the growth and competitiveness of the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) sector in Tanzania. She is currently pursuing PhD studies in Germany as a DAAD Scholar at the University of Siegen. Her research area is Entrepreneurship Education and has researched on the factors influencing Customer Satisfaction with Internet Banking as Masters’ thesis.

Mr. Patrick Kavenuke

Mr. Patrick Kavenuke is an Assistant Lecturer in the department of Educational Foundations, Management and Life Long Learning. He completed his first degree B.Ed. in Arts (Linguistics) at the University of Dar es Salaam in 2010 and master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy at East China Normal University-PRC in 2012. He teaches courses in International and Comparative Education, Philosophy of Education, Sociology of Education, Principles of Education and Advanced Qualitative Research Methodologies. His main research areas of interest are critical thinking, teacher policy and management, sociology of knowledge, academic advising and instructional language policy. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD in Comparative Education at Beijing Normal University, PRC

Mr. Hamisi Mfaume

Assistant Lecturer

Mr. Hamisi Mfaume is Assistant Lecturer in Educational Foundations and Management unit. Mr. Mfaume completed his Diploma in education in 2002 at Morogoro Teachers’ college, first degree BEd (Arts) Geography and master’s degree in Education (M.A. Education) at the University of Dar es Salaam in 2008 and 2012 respectively. Mr. Mfaume worked as a teacher at Sangu secondary school in Mbeya region between the years 2003 and 2004 before joining the University of Dar es Salaam for further studies. In 2008 he worked again at Sangu secondary school as a teacher before joining the Dar es Salaam University college of Education (DUCE) as Tutorial Assistant in the year 2009 where he is still working to date. He teaches courses in foundations of education, history of education and teacher professionalism and ethics as well, at undergraduate level. His main research areas of interest are teacher ethics and professionalism.

Ms. Cecilia Swai

Assistant Lecturer

Ms. Cecilia Swai is Assistant Lecturer in Educational Foundations. Ms. Cecilia completed her first degree in BED (Arts) and master’s degree in Education at the University of Dar es salaam in 2007 and 2010 respectively. She teaches course in educational foundations at undergraduate levels. Her main research areas of interest are in education for minority groups like vulnerable children and nomads.

Ms Gabriel Leatitia

 

Ms.Leatitita Gabriel is an Assistant Lecturer, in the department of Educational Psychology and Curriculum Studies within the Faculty of Education-DUCE.  Ms. Gabriel holds Master of Arts in Education(2009-2011) and Bachelor of Arts with Education (2005-2008) from the University of Dar es Salaam, and Diploma in Education from Butimba Teachers College (2002-2004). Prior to her employment at the University, Ms Gabriel has been a secondary school teacher serving as an Educational officer grade II at Wazo Hill Secondary school located in Dar esSalaam (2008-2009), and Lugoba Secondary school (2009) located in the Coast Region. At the Dar es Salaam University College of Education, she teaches courses in curriculum and teaching as well as history and geography pedagogy at undergraduate level. Her main research areas of interest include; Teacher education, teaching and learning, curriculum practice, environmental education, social science, didactics, qualitative and mixed methods researches.Currently, Ms. Gabriel is a Master student in Social Science Education at Bergen University College in Norway.
